A plead to be warm -
set this ribcage ablaze.
If carbon was born from calcium phosphate,
I'd call to the charcoal till my bone structure breaks,
and reverse collagen's non-polar state.

The slowing of time would seem so sublime;
to bear witness to the bending of light;
to feel the mass of a blackhole break down my bones;
a ribcage implodes, but I know it won't.

A plead to be warm.
A plead to be born again.

When this cage is strained under threat to collapse,
my lungs give way like paraffin wax.
A body decomposes into the ground;
skin beetles feasting at the burial mound.

Pulverized under unsightly hands,
pressing down until I'm turned into sand;
called to earth by some nameless deity;
atrophized cells return to the land.

The air you breathe breeds the existence of embers.
Set ablaze the ribcage that you used to remember.
Please light it up, with one modest spark,
with fuel to last one day in the dark.

A plead to be warm.
A plead to be born again.
